About ME

It’s tough explaining yourself to someone you don’t know without sounding slightly pretentious and like you’re floating your own boat so apologies if that is exactly what I do.

Firstly, as you’d be aware by now from visiting this site, I love to write and always have.

From high school work experience at my local paper, then at Victoria’s the Herald Sun, to writing short stories about real life experiences to things totally made up in my head. Writing has been a constant for me, often a therapeutic and cathartic medium to deal with my own struggles in life and to process them.

Now writing in a professional context, regularly contributing to The Age and the Sydney Morning Herald, ABC Everyday, The Guardian, News.com.au, Harper’s Bazaar, the Herald Sun, Mamamia, Kidspot, Body+Soul; I have also been published in At Home, Domain, 10Daily, Whimn, NZ Herald and US sites, the New York Post and She Said. I have developed a focus on telling real life stories of women, as well as the trials and tribulations of parenting. I also regularly write blog articles for a number of websites including our video production company in Melbourne, Big & Small Productions.

In my real life I am a mother of two hilarious and intelligent girls, Addi and Milla, two personality-filled felines Tonka and Slinky and three rescue goats, Petal, Clover and Gretchen. I live with them, my husband and my mother on a semi-rural property in Victoria.

Outside writing and my family assortment of humans and animals I love horror movies, true crime books and shows, pop culture programs and gossip, chocolate, champagne and travelling.

As an ex-teacher I am an advocate for education but also for animal welfare, the empowerment of women and girls and for mental health.

I am currently working (slowly) on my first book about one of the most fundamental life shaping events of my life, being the daughter from an affair and its effects on making me, me.
